"For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:21, NKJV)
How have you actively sought the Lord today? How did you pursue Him yesterday? How much energy did you put into the things of Jesus Christ over the past week?
It is amazing how quickly the things of the Lord get sidelined in our lives by our own things. Sadly, it is when we desperately need something from God that we tend to realize how little we have needed Him! How fervently we seek Him bespeaks how deeply we need Him.
Strangely enough, under the grace of Jesus Christ, how actively and fervently we sought Him yesterday matters little today. We cannot change one iota of that past. We can, however, change what we will do with today! How will you seek him the things of the Lord from this moment forth? Even more amazing is the reality that when you make the things of the Lord your things, and your things the things of the Lord, seeking your things becomes seeking the Lord. Give yourself to Christ and leave no doubt as to whose things you seek!
Father, forgive my selfish pursuit of me. Help me to learn not to just prioritize Your things, but instead to wholly give myself to You this day and everyday you give me under this sun! In my Redeemer’s name, I seek You.
