"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15, NKJV)
How committed are you to the study of God’s word? Do you study occasionally? Do you rarely study? Would you consider yourself diligent in your endeavors to rightly divide the word of truth? Does your diligence with the word reflect your claim of discipleship?
At the heart of being a disciple is being a student. You cannot follow Jesus if you do not know His ways. You cannot grow in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus if you do not spend time with His word. You cannot teach others if you are not yourself knowledgeable.
Time with the Word is not an option for a disciple, it is a necessity. Do you think of His word as daily food for your soul? Are you passionate about handling aright the word of truth? Are you a worker who need not to be ashamed? What will you do, from this day forth, to present yourself approved to God?
My Lord and Teacher, cleanse from me the shame of my ignorance of Your word and forgive me my lack of diligence as a disciple. Let my daily food be Your word and my daily desire to be an approved worker in Your kingdom. Through my Savior I seek Your grace and knowledge.
