“Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more! Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight?’”” (2 Samuel 12:7–9a, NKJV)

Considering God’s overwhelming grace and the unimaginable price Jesus paid to obtain your forgiveness as His disciple, does it not follow that God is frustrated by and grieves your choice to sin?

As God says to King David, so He could easily challenge us. “I gave My only begotten Son for you. And as if that is not enough, I have given and will have given you so much more. Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight?”

While God may be disappointed, and even frustrated, with you, He still offers forgiveness. Instead of hiding yourself in sin and shame, letting guilt overwhelm your sense of godly sorrow, confess your sin to Him this very moment. Let Him forgive you. Remember, He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (cf. 2 Pet. 3:9). This includes you.

Father, I have disappointed You who have done so much for my unworthy soul. I can never make up for my disgrace, but cast myself before Your mercy. May I bear fruit from this day forth that magnifies Your goodness and grace. Through your Son, I pray.
